Under new regulations, Eddie Stobart has introduced a new high-volume Envirotrailer to its ever expanding fleet to help boost the economy, cut congestion and slash carbon emissions from the haulage industry. The eco-trailer is being operated under a Vehicle Special Order as part of the Department for Transport’s 10-year trial of semi-trailers that are one and two metres longer than the then maximum length of 13.6 metres. The extended trailers allow operators to carry higher volumes of goods but still meet the current regulations with regard to maximum permitted weights and turning circles. The first UK delivery utilised a 15.65 metre trailer with two steering rear axles – providing impressive manoeuvrability and less wear and tear to the UK road network. The trailer was packed with 54 retail cages and demonstrated a 20% increase in payload allowing for the number of trucks on UK roads to be decreased.

Please see below details of 2 Rally cars from Sunstar in 1/18th scale, H3946 and H3948 are both in Stobart livery and the details are as follows:

H3946 – Ford Focus RS – EU07 STX – Laura Abby – WRC07 Monte Carlo 2008 Francois Duval/Eddy Chavallier CLICK HERE to view. This model was released in October 2012.
H3948 – Ford Focus RS – 1 ES – Elaine Katie – WRC08 Wales. GB 2010 Matthew Wilson/Scott Martin CLICK HERE to view. This model has not yet been released, it was marked initially as a December 2012 release.

Sunstar model H3947 IS NOT a Stobart Rally Team Ford Focus. The photograph shown on a number of sites has been transposed from model H3948. "The transport operation at the Crick site is moving to Rugby, thus access to the Crick site for spotting will be prohibited from 5pm on Sunday 17th February 2013 on Health and Safety grounds due to deconstruction of the site commencing.

There will be opportunities for members to spot trucks from the new site at Rugby once all phases of construction have been completed. As yet we do not have an exact time scale for when this will be, but we will inform you once construction is completed and the site is deemed safe for visitors.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and greatly appreciate your cooperation in this matter".

CORGI ANNOUNCE NEW STOBART TOY RANGE
Corgi today advised me of the following:

Eddie Stobart Road Haulage Joins Corgi Toys

After the award winning success of Corgi Toys in 2012 (Best Toy Car in 2012 awarded by Toy Talk and gold medal winner for Best Vehicle awarded by the Independent Toy Awards 2012) and the on-going supporting CITV sponsorship campaign, Corgi Toys announced this week at London Toy Fair the new Eddie Stobart road rail haulage depot range. 

Corgi Toys have created a range of die-cast toys in the recognised Eddie Stobart livery. This new range focuses on haulage in Britain where road meets rail. The first wave of ten vehicles includes Scania articulated lorries in Eddie Stobart's traditional liveries, a Stobart Rail diesel locomotive and container wagon. These toys will be available as solo vehicles, five packs and a playset which will include two die-cast vehicles, a themed plastic building and play mat.

The Gallery pages on my British Model Buses website are a very popular feature of it and allows visitors to compare photographs of models against the real thing.

If anyone has any photographs of Stobart trucks or trailers that have been represented in model form that they would be happy for me to add to the Gallery I would be very pleased to receive them. With regard Trailers, if anyone has photographs of any of the Rugby Trailers (irrespective of whether they are the actual trailer modelled, I believe there are approx 12 trailers representing each team out there) I would publish these so visitors can compare the designs to their models.

EXPLANATION ABOUT THE ORDER ATLAS MODELS ARE BEING RELEASED
I am very grateful to Kevin Bullions who has sent me a copy of the reply he received from Atlas Editions when he queried the order in which he was receiving his models. I am sure there are a number of people out there who are also confused, this may assist you.

"Thank you for contacting Atlas Editions.

The Eddie Stobart Collection was launched in January 2012 and so has been going for one year. Customers who started the collection at the very start of the collection will receive the models more or less in the numeric order of the product reference.

Customers who joined later in the series, such as yourself, will receive the first 4 models in numeric order and will then follow the collection as per the model released in that month, which is why your collection went from model 04 to model 10.

Any models that were released prior to you starting the series will be sent at a later date towards the end of the length of the collection and no models will be missed".

DELAY TO TECKNO MODEL
Further to my News of 22 September 2012, I understand that Teckno model Stobart Rail Scania R Series Lowline 6 x 2 with Goldhofer 4-axle Semi Lowloader is now delayed until march at earliest.

CORGI RELEASE UPDATE
The following model was originally advertised as a January 2013 release:

I have received a release update from Corgi and the model is not listed as being scheduled for release up to and including week commencing 21st January so it looks like it has slipped a bit. I will let you know as soon as I hear anything from Corgi as to when it might be released.

ATLAS EDITIONS
Atlas Editions seem to be releasing their models in no particular order. A number of people have received recently released models but not ones released some time ago. If you receive a model from Atlas editions that I have not previously reported as released, could you please email me CLICK HERE and let me know.

NEW STOBART SMART PHONE APP - NOTHING TO DO WITH MODELS
I learned today that Stobart have just released a live tracking App for smart phones that runs in real time. This enables you to see lorries anywhere in the country. You can search for them by fleet name or number and can view a map of the whole country. Earlier I followed a truck as it moved around the M25 near Heathrow at a steady 52mph. The two usual trucks that operate from a local Chicken processing factory were shown stationary on the map at the location of the Chicken factory. A number of trucks were shown moving on the A12 through Essex. This should come in handy when out and you cannot read the fleet names or numbers of the Scania's going the other way! I think I might have to get an in car charger for my iPhone when out with the family.

The App costs £2.99 and is available from the Apple iStore. I am not aware if it is available on Android yet.
